It can only get better

My life is soooo exciting right now. Look how exciting I am.
Fortunately I finally got a job, so I'm staying in Chicago. Of my two choices (Chicago or Michigan), staying in Chicago is the more difficult option. I really can't afford to be here. In many ways I feel like an incompetent loser. It's one thing to be a college kid... it's another to be in a terrible limbo between college kid and functioning adult. I'm trying to picture my life 5 years from now... and the way things are going, it's not at all where I want to be.
Today I spent a lot of time in bed, thinking about all the crap that I want to do (hey, it's Sunday, leave me alone!). Three years ago, anything seemed possible.
But at least I'm here. Because Chicago is exactly where I want to be. Two or three years from now I hope to be moving out to California. Not necessarily LA, but somewhere nearby. So why wait? I'll admit I've come close to making the move out to the West coast, but I don't feel like I'm quite finished with this city. I guess you could say I have some loose ends I want to tie up before I hit the road and change cities again.

Last night I had a crazy dream about Bruges, Belgium. It's been 3 years since I've been, but I know if I were to go back I would be able to navigate that city as if I lived there.
Today, via stumbleupon, I came across a lot of Europe-y things. I'd love to go back. I'd love to spend a year living there. The Mediterranean is beautiful, but I would definitely live in Belgium... the people are lovely, and it's just a short train ride to Holland, Germany, and France. What more could you ask for? Perhaps I'll marry a multi-millionaire and take an extended vacation. HA! Yeah, that's dreaming big.

Alright, enough wishing. Time to make things happen. Looking at my bucket list, sadly I have not crossed off a single thing this year! I cannot have this! Definitely not allowed!
So let's start small... Wine tasting is #1. Easy peasy. Let's make it happen!
#2... make the 5 mile hike across the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day. Anyone interested in joining?
