As a kid I had no idea that I was secretly being taught about healthy eating habits. Spinach gives you super strength!? Of course!!! Whoever came up with that was a genius. Same with Captain Planet (who is long overdue for a comeback).
I went home last week and spent some time with friends I haven't seen in six months.
Besides the awkward conversation during Thanksgiving dinner concerning religion and politics, it was a smashingly good time. I almost didn't want to come back to Chicago. Almost.
It's interesting... my hometown has changed surprisingly very little since I officially left a year ago. Hollywood came to town with their fancy lights and everyone is a little starstruck by their overall schwankiness... Oh, and the neighboring town got themselves a Starbucks... but other than that, it's completely the same. I still run into the same people at the uptown coffee shop and deer smashing themselves into your car is still inevitable. Good old reliable city of my childhood.
